In a league of disegnatura Yahoo FFL (12 teams, 16 points in the role, Draft of snake-style) I take for RBS with my first two selections, then a WR. What follows? The strategy has meant below? I 'm who choose to end up with: 2 QB, 4 RB, 5 WR, 2 TE, 1 DEF, 1 K. Rd. 1: RB Rd. 2: RB Rd. 3: WR (Sit-best profit.) Rd. 4: WR or RB (SEATING) Rd. 5: QB Rd. 6-7: WR or RB (SEATING) Rd. 8: TE Rd. 9-10-11-12-13:? Rd. 14: FINAL Rd. 15: TE / WR Rd. 16: K Can anyone give an article on strategy available - Late-Round Draft? I know that every draft has "operations," but there is a good strategy for those with the next round without just take the best player available, regardless of position to fill all points of the role?

one of the main things you are going to try get is a good def. you dont want to get stuck with a sorry def. and you dont always need to get a rb with the first two maybe one with the first and another somewhere in the middle!!!! you should try to get a really good wr in the early rounds!!!

Dont listen to mike, You need 2 good running backs to have a chance. Try to avoid the ‘runs’ as best you can because often there is little difference between the 4th best TE and 10th best TE. Each position has its elite players (Palmer, Tomlinson, Gates etc…) but after the first few things tend to even out. In rounds 9-13 take the best available player that will fill your roster.

    9) QB (for bye weeks)
    10) RB (for use in bye weeks)
    11) WR (in case you get earlier RB and if not a backup is nice)
    12) RB/WR (depending on how you drafted earlier)
    13) RB/WR (depending on how you drafted earlier)
But yes your stratagy looks good to me, just think about a QB at least in Rd. 9. I’m not sure you need 4 RB and 5 WR though.

This is my stratgey… Always take the best player avalible at your pick…

If you have the #1 pick and you take LT and then your next pick you take B.Westbrook.. Then when your about to take your next pick, what if Willie Parker i still on the board…What do you do now??? I would take parker because you know someone else is going to want, or need a RB later on.. So, its good trade bait..

The point I’m trying to make is this.. If you picking and a really good player falls threw the cracks and gets to you.. I would rather see you take that player and use him as a trade later or maybe use him yourself, rather than pick and “ok” WR just because you, you only have 1 WR or TE, DEF, anything.. get he idea?

So, don’t think you have to take certian positions at certian times.. Take the best of whats avaiable, you can always trade later on..

I won my league last year with the 4th pick.. I got Steven Jackson with the 4th pick.. My 2nd round pick was willie parker.. and the my 3rd round was Bush.. 4th was Andrea Johnson and 5th was Donald Driver.. All the top 5 QBs where taken so, I took with the 6th pick Bears DEF and then in the 7th I took Ravens DEF… I

I ended up with an okay QB.. Brett Farve
    TE was Chris Cooley
and I picked up M.Furrey late rounds and then others..

Because, I picked the Bears Def really HI and the Ravens too.. I ened up trading the Bears DEF and M.Furrey for Chad Johnson and a horrible DEF he had….

well.. its the way I’ve been play for years and it works.. Good luck either way..

RB, RB is always the best way to start. Depending on where you draft a stand-out WR may not be available. If Brady, Brees, or Palmer somehow manged to fall to you in the 3rd round I’d grab them over a star WR. Otherwise take a WR and look for someone like McNabb or Young as your QB in the 4th round. Don’t draft your 2nd WR over your staring QB.

After the 5th round when you have 2 RBs, 2 WRs, and a QB I’d actually look to draft your DEF here. Good D’s like Baltimore and Chi tend to out score most teams 3rd WRs. Next a back-up running back that has a different bye week then your original 2 starters. Then grab your 3rd WR.

The 9th round I’d take the best available player between QB,RB,WR or if Gates, Gonzo, Heap, Shockey, Cooley, or Davis are available at TE take them. All the others this year are going to do about the same and you can just grab one later.

The 10th and 11th round I’d finsih drafting all your WRs/RBs. The 12th I’d take a TE if you haven’t already or a back-up DEF. No one needs a 2nd TE, if you feel you want one during the bye week, add one off the waiver wire right before the week begins.

The 13th and 14th I’d take the best available player to sit on your bench that isn’t a TE, K, or DEF.

In the 15th I’d try and find a steal with a rookie. May I suggest Craig Davis from SD. SD has no star WRs and he will get a lot of playing time as a rookie. If he develops well play him otherwise he’d make a good drop for that 2nd TE.

The 16th round take your kicker. I’ve seen Stover and Akers both fall to the last round so maybe you’ll get lucky. Good luck.
